Pay & Play initiatives intiation by GHMC fetched one crore rupess Revenue
In the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation’s history is the first time that the sports wing of GHMC has fetch up the revenue around Rs. 1 crore by taking up innovative schemes like Pay & Use and Pay & Play initiatives all sports facilities and made available which have been extended to various schools and educational institutions for the welfare of various section of the society across the city of Hyderabad.
The GHMC is the only Corporation in the Country which is encouraging to fully utilized the sports facilities available for the benefit of needy youth through proper Asset / Infrastructure and human resource management with decentralized and focused approach and also conducting regularly summer coaching camps from so many decades and as produced many sports persons to reach the National and International level who have won several Olympics medals in different fields and the GHMC is providing financial assistance to the yester years sports personnel’s for their livelihood and well being.
In this endeavor the GHMC has been providing opportunities to poor, underprivileged, women and youth to sustain their livelihood and improve quality of life. As part of this GHMC has been striving hard to inculcate “Sports Culture” in the city for so many years. For this purpose GHMC has built number of sport facilities in the form of sports complexes, play grounds, multipurpose gyms, swimming pools etc., GHMC has also been providing sports materials to prospective students/trainees under various categories.
The GHMC has taken up new initiatives like Pay & Play have been introduced to positive outcome of this initiative it is the need of the hour to revisit the existing sports policy of GHMC to create a comprehensive sports policy to meet the challenges of newly emerging trends in the sporting arena.
Dr.B.Janardhan Reddy, Commissioner, GHMC along with ZCs / DCs and senior officials of the sports wing had a review meeting on sports activities in the Head Office today. While interacting with the officials the Commissioner instructed all the officials to personally monitor and inspect the sports activities in their jurisdiction for over all development of the sports activities in the GHMC.
The Commissioner, GHMC said that the Administration is planning to delegate the powers to the ZCs and DCs to take up the sports activities at their zonal and circle level without forwarding the files to the Head Office for smooth and overall development of the sports activities in the entire zonal and circle offices of the GHMC.
Srinivas Reddy, Additional Commissioner (Sports) has given a power point presentation and explained about the various sports activities which have been taken up in GHMC and said at present the GHMC is having around 521 play grounds and 14 sports complexes, 7 swimming pools, and another 10 big ongoing projects which are under progress.
